The Professional Photographer’s of Cape Cod association was founded by Ed Lilley, of E.R. Lilley Photography of Harwichport in 1979. When Lilley was living in Canada, he found that belonging to a photo association helped create bonds between seasoned photographers and newbies, which helped everyone succeed in the industry. When he relocated to Cape Cod, he immediately joined the Professional Photographers of Massachusetts (PPAM) to network with other photographers and find camaraderie. Through PPAM, he met Marly Lewis, the sales representative for Art Leather albums, and East Falmouth photographer Richard MacLone. Lilley, Lewis and MacLone believed that a Cape Cod-specific group of photographers was needed so the three joined forces to start the initiative. This was from a short Eulogy I wrote after my friend and mentor Ed Lilley passed away in April 2023.

"My Friend, Ed Edward Lilley passed away earlier this week. A huge loss for his family, friends and the photographic community. This photo is when he visited me at the Artist Cottages in Orleans in September 2021. I met Ed and Sue when I still lived in Vermont and they extended the invitation that changed my life and career. I mentioned the possibility of moving to the cape and starting my photography business. Both Ed and his wife Sue took me under their wing and helped me launch my beach and photography business, Joy Photographic! And that was the start of a 35 year friendship! Ed was one of the founding members of PPOCC ( Prof Photographers of Cape Cod) Ed was a firm believer in educating everyone so that we were a team of professional photographers growing together rather than competing against each other! Over the years Ed flew me all over the country to photograph Sweet Adeline’s. One of my favorite memories of Sweet Adeline’s was when Ed was training us and Russ Price and I were along for the first weekend. We decided to sing karaoke ( during a singing convention) and we decided to sing the short song by Don Maclean, Bye, Bye Miss American Pie. Ed had a great voice, Russ was totally into it and I giggled on stage for the whole 11 minutes!! What fun we had that weekend! Back at home on the cape I had the honor of photographing ‘little heads’ with him ( middle school photos) Quite the experience! Ed always found a solution if he had a challenge. Like building a sand dune in his front yard for rainy day beach portrait sessions! In the summers we had our annual clambake. 2 pound lobsters were the little ones!! And in 2003 when I earned my Master of Photography Degree at the Las Vegas convention, Ed did the honors of awarding me my degree and medal. A few winters ago I visited Ed and Sue in Florida. Ed and I spent an entire day just photographing for fun! Such great memories. When we both left in October to go our separate ways for the winter I had a chance to give him a big hug and say thank you for being a great friend and mentor. Ed’s greatest legacy is his love story to his wife Sue, 3 wonderful sons/ wives and his grandchildren. We will be looking for your golden light at sunrise and sunsets RIP Ed. You were a legend in your own time." Marcia Joy Duggan

July 1, 2024: Boards In The Stores

Boards In The Stores

Boards in the Stores 2024!  'Clam Tress' is on display at Mahoneys Bar & Grill until Aug 24, 2024 when the bidding ends at 5PM.

This board fits perfectly over a fireplace and is made with an actual photograph with a high end acrylic finish giving this piece a 3D effect. The acrylic simulates glass, but without the extra weight or glare. There is a cleat on the back for easy hanging and this does not require any framing.

This is a fundraiser for the Orleans Chamber and the proceeds from each board are split with the Chamber and the local artist.

Update: Bidding ended on August 24, 2024. Thank you to everyone who participated in this fundraiser and supported the local artists. Congratulations to all the winning bidders! Grateful for all of your support and kind words.
